FLYL 2017 GIRLS PROGRAM: 1st & 2nd GRADE
DAYS AND DATES: REGULAR SEASON: April 1 - June 11
BASIC PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Designed for 1st and 2nd grade girls with the goal of teaching the fundamentals of Lacrosse while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport. The program will be “low-key”, emphasizing "fun and fundamentals". All players will be treated equally with respect to instruction. We understand the children are still trying different sports and are tolerant of conflicts.
Our 1st and 2nd grade program is designed around introducing the game of lacrosse. Each and every practice and drill is to allow the girls to get a taste of the game and have fun every minute they have a stick in their hands. The commitment is minimal but the experience is priceless. All the girls will be divided into “in-house” teams. After 1 hour of skills and drills, and when they are ready, the in-house teams will scrimmage against one another for the remaining time.
Games: We will plan to have a few mini-jamborees (7v7 no goalie) against other local teams.
These will be during practice regular time. We will have an emphasis on skills and learning the "rules" to prepare them for 3rd grade when they will play 12 v 12 full field.
SCHEDULE: Saturdays 1:00-2:30PM (one Sunday for a mini-jamboree)
